The Salem Lady Cats are 15-4 on the season after a double header sweep of visiting Lawrenceville at Tully Park. They opened with a 5-0 win. Bre Thurman had 2 hits including a double and scored twice with an RBI. Mya Russell added 2 hits and 2 RBI with Marah Johnson driving in a run. Lilly Blagoue allowed 1 hit and struck out 11 and didn’t walk anyone.
Bre Thurman was equally as dominant in the circle in the 2nd game as Salem won 12-0. Thurman struck out 8 and didn’t walk anyone allowing just 2 hits in the win. Olivia Paulson homered and drove in 2, Blagoue doubled and drove in 3, Russell added a double and 2 RBI. Izzy Decker drove in a run as well as Nat Lee. Salem is back in action today against Mount Vernon in a rematch of an early season game won by the Lady Rams.
Nashville’s Keeghan Renth was dominant on Saturday throwing a 38 pitch, 5-inning perfect game in a 10-0 win against previously unbeaten Carrollton.
Also Saturday, Carbondale beat O’Fallon 18-7, Mater Dei dropped 2 to Edwardsville losing 3-2 and 4-0, Vandalia lost to Lincolnwood 9-2, Marion beat Mt Zion 3-2, Mount Vernon over Lincoln 7-2 and South Central won a pair beating Sullivan 9-5 and Edwards County 9-7.
The SC Lady Cougars return to action today when they host North Clay.
