Centralia Police and Fire evacuated Plaza Verde at 1200 West 4th Street after a fire on a stove of one of the units.
Fire officials say the tenant was able to put out the fire that was confined to the stove with a fire extinguisher. However, smoke filled the residence and a hallway.
As a precaution, other residents were moved outside until the smoke was cleared. The resident who put out the fire in his apartment was able to get into the hallway before the firemen arrived and escorted him outside.
No injuries were reported.
The fire call came in at 7:30 on Saturday morning.
