The Salem Wildcats travel to powerhouse Mascoutah today for a double header with the Indians. The Cats are 9-11 after a road loss at Mater Dei yesterday 4-0 in which the Cats could only muster 1 hit, a Jalen Inlow single. Gavin Zimmermann took the loss going 6 innings allowing 4 runs and 2 earned. Mater Dei led 2-0 until a big 2-run homer in the fifth doubled the lead.
The Salem JV got an RBI single from Max Vincent to give them the lead in the 8th inning as Salem beat the Knights 8-6. Vincent finished 2-3 for the day with 2 runs and an RBI. Brody Collier drove in 2 with RBI also from Evan Barnes. Keytin Grawe had 2 hits and 2 runs, Carter Lowe doubled and scored twice. Brody Collier started and worked 3.2 and Aden Rostance got the win working 4.1 innings of relief. The Salem JV is also at Mascoutah for a double header today.
The SC Cougars were 10-0 winners over Flora on the road yesterday. Colton Smith drove in 2 runs with RBI also from Trevan Sidwell, Cowen West, Maddux Robb, Brody Markley, Zane Montes, Evan Hoover, Hudson Moore and Max Magnus. Callaway Smith combined with Sidwell for the win on the mound.
