Six members of the Centralia Police and Fire Department as well as a Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputy have been honored with Valor Awards from the 100 Club of Illinois.

The Centralia first responders were honored for their heroic acts in saving a man in a structure fire on Bond Street in Centralia last October.  Those honored were Centralia Police Sergeant Ryan Bundy and officers Travis Ripperda and Nolan Beggs, Centralia 911 Dispatcher Derek Moss, and Centralia Fire Captain Blake Perez and Lieutenant Jordan Parson.   In addition, the two fire department members then issued first aid to officers Ripperda and Beggs.  Moss was honored for handling the telecommunications for police, fire, and EMS alone.  The six were earlier honored by Centralia Mayor Bryan Kuder with letters of commendation.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputy Devin Elliott was honored for his heroic actions on June 9th of last year where he responded to an officer-involved shooting on I-64 and transported injured ISP Sergeant Boguslaw Kramarz.  Kramarz and another officer involved in the shooting, State Trooper Timothy Harper were also honored.  Elliott was previously named Deputy of the Year in connection with the same actions.

The awards were handed out in a ceremony in Springfield.
