2024 04/23 – Nickie Diane Redfern

Nickie Diane Redfern, 68, of Centralia, Illinois, passed away at 5:40 pm on April 18, 2024, at her residence. She was born August 19, 1955, in East Saint Louis, Illinois to the late Richard and Betty Hatfield.

Nickie married Charles “Chuck” Redfern on August 17, 1985 in Centralia.  In addition to her beloved husband, Nickie is survived by her children, Mark Redfern of Centralia and Heather Tremblay and husband, Ronnie of Belleville, Illinois, and Jill Malkalick; grandchildren, Mark Redfern and wife, Olivia, Alexis Lowe and husband, Justin, Kayla Clark, Karah Clark, and Logan Tremblay; great-grandchildren, Sebastian Eldridge, Ashtyn Lowe, Princton Redfern, and Myles Redfern; sister, Marge Hatfield of Granite City, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Nickie was preceded in death by her siblings, Albert Marcum, Ethel Watts, Eileene Badgett, Ruth Paxton, Billie Stewart, and Donna Wright. Nickie was a member of Crossroads Church in Centralia, where she was part of the women’s ministry and was active in the guest engagement team at the church. She was treasurer of the Kaskaskia Baptist Association. Nickie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend.

A Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 23, 2024, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 am with Pastor Ronnie Tabor officiating. Interment will follow at Bethel Memorial Cemetery in Mount Vernon.
