The Salem Community High School Green Team Recycling Day is Friday, April 26th from eight to noon.
Sponsor Drew Johnson says the recycling will follow the same procedure as last year. Those who want to drop off no longer wanted electronic items should come to the back of the school and drive up in front of the agriculture building. Students will then unload your vehicle.
Johnson says they are not allowed to accept some items. Those include smoke detectors, fire alarms and old-style computer monitors and TVs that have tubes on the back. He’s asking that items be taken out of the box they were purchased and all cords are disconnected except flat screen monitors where cords should remain in place. Large appliances cannot be accepted.
The Green Team is working with Eagle Recycling to recycle items collected.
2023 was a record year for donation of recyclables. A total 16,246 pounds were collected.
