Salem softball dropped a heartbreaker to a really good St Anthony team 9-6. Bre Thurman was great in the circle striking out 7. Marah Johnson added 2 hits driving in a run. Thurman added 2 hits including a leadoff home run, her 7th of the year. Lilly Blagoue hit 2 long ones to regain the team lead with 8. Salem will travel to Murphysboro today.
It came down to extra innings, and South Central walked-off on Christ Our Rock 7-6 at Deep Rock Energy Field in Kinmundy. The Lady Cougars trailed 6-2 in the bottom of the 7th when they would score 4 runs to tie it. Kaitlyn Swift had an RBI single and Abi Shuler singled to tie the game at 7. In the 8th Kyra Swift hit a walk-off double. Taegan Webster homered. She was the complete game winner going all 8 innings allowing 4 hits and 4 earned runs. For the Lady Stallions, Nalewawjka drove in a pair. Emma Williamson went the distance in the loss striking out 11 to only 3 walks.
Odin/Patoka/Sandoval’s offense was led by Hailey Lane with 4 hits including 2 home runs as they beat Webber 24-5. Maddie Garrett and Bella Pearce had 3 hits with 2 each from Amiya Ray, Gwen Belcher, Jena Howell, Kenzi Wilkerson and Lexi Calhoun. Pearce was the winning pitcher striking out 10 as the Lady Eagles improve to 7-10 and will play at North Clay today.
