Eight area residents arrested on drug charges following work of FBI-led task force

Eight area residents have been arrested on drug delivery charges following an investigation by the FBI Springfield Field Office Southern Illinois Transnational Organized Crime West Task Force based in Carlyle.  The primary focus of the task force is on large-scale drug conspiracies involving drug trafficking organizations operating throughout Southern Illinois and Mexico.

The eight who have been charged as a result of the investigation are:

  • Jackie Scanlan of Centralia – two counts of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and fentanyl.
  • Karie Holstlaw of Centralia – one count of distribution of methamphetamine
  • Mark Hills of Salem – two counts of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine
  • Denzel McChristian of St. Louis (previously of Centralia) – one count of distribution of methamphetamine.
  • Matthew Campbell of Keyesport – two counts of distribution of methamphetamine.
  • Sherry Dent of Germantown – five counts of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and fentanyl.
  • Dennis Conway of Vandalia – two counts of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and fentanyl.
  • Jeffrey Steinkamp of Vandalia – two counts of distribution of methamphetamine.

The investigation and arrests were conducted with the support of FBI St. Louis, the Mt. Vernon, Carlyle, Centralia, and Germantown Police Departments, the Marion, Jefferson, Fayette, Clinton, and Bond County Sheriff’s Departments, and the US Attorney’s Office-Southern District of Illinois.
