The National U20 Youth Team Bowling champions include 3 southern Illinois bowlers that are still in high school, and will be next year.  Salem junior Silas Moats along with friends Connor Lunning of O’Fallon, Evan Flath of Carterville…all of whom are only 17 years old, joined 19 year old Riley Speer of Chicago to claim the tournament title in Smyrna, Tennessee over the weekend.

What a Sunday of bowling for the team.

After team qualifying, they entered the semifinals as the #4 seed. After being down 2 games to 1 in a best of 5 match against the top seed, they rallied for 2 victories to move into the championship match against the #3 seed. After falling behind 2-0, the boys gathered themselves and reeled off three straight victories, with total pins of 616 in those three games, to claim the championship! Very proud of the young men for grinding and never giving up on their opportunity to win…which they DID today!
