Marion County Fair Board President Doug Telford is pleased with how the BBQ challenge they put together for the Eclipse weekend turned out.

“Had seven competitors cooking BBW, we just got through with the awards.  Everyone left happy.  The people who came to eat left full, it was just a great day.”

Telford says they now want to look at making the BBQ challenge an annual event.

“We are going to plan on doing it again, we just have to figure out a schedule with the Clinton County Society so it’s something that was very positive.”

Telford says they also want to make the event sanctioned so points can be earned for the annual awards from the Clinton County BBQ Society.

The Grand Champion team was Smokin J’s.   They also won the People’s Choice.  The Reserve Champion was Hog Heaven.  Hog Heaven also won 1st Place in chicken while Smokin J’s took first in ribs and pork.
