Danny L. Thompson, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at the age of 78.

Born on Friday, July 5, 1946, in McLeansboro, Illinois, the son of Carl Thompson and Opal (McPeak) Thompson. He married Mischelle Walton for many year,s and they later divorced.

Danny is survived by his children: Cindy Moss and her husband John of Marion, Margi Thompson of Marion, Leslie Whitaker and her husband Greg of Huey, Shana Thompson-Travous of Trenton, and Danny Thompson and his wife Amber of Centralia. His legacy continues through his numerous grandchildren including: Dallas, Nolan, Beckett, and Waylon Thompson, Kaitlin Dahl, Bianca Moreno and Jacob Moreno, as well as several great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind several cherished nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Carl and Opal Thompson, and his two brothers, Lloyd and Wayne Thompson.

Throughout his career, he first worked at Rockwell as a relief operator for 18 years and then worked as a truck driver, Danny was known for his dedication and strong work ethic, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues and friends. His passion wasn’t just in his work; Danny had an enduring love for listening to music, playing pool, and riding motorcycles, pursuits that brought him joy.

Per Danny’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded and no public services will be held. His family honors his desire for privacy and remembers him privately in their hearts.
