A 20 by 40 foot metal outbuilding was a total loss following a Saturday night fire north of Sandoval.
Sandoval Fire Chief Chad Parson says the fire was on the Christopher Lyons property at 5101 Pope Road. He was not at home at the time and the fire had been burning for several minutes before being spotted by a passerby.
Parson says the fire is believed to be the result of a faulty battery charger that was charging a lawnmower inside the structure.
Sandoval received mutual aid assistance from Odin and Patoka firefighters who brought manpower and water to the scene. Firemen received the call around nine Saturday night and were on the scene for about an hour and a half. There were no injuries.
