Lady Cats Comeback To Beat Columbia On Johnson’s 3-run HR
The Salem Lady Cats trailed 5-0 in the bottom of the fifth when they turned on the gas and came back to beat Columbia 7-5. In that fifth inning, Izzy Decker led off with a single. Alivia Rasul, Nat Lee and Bre Thurman found ways on base. Mya Russell then doubled home two. With Salem down 5-4, Marah Johnson blasted her first homer of the season to give the Lady Cats the lead. Lilly Blagoue was the winning pitcher striking out 10. The girls will play at Marion tomorrow and are 7-1 on the season, 1-0 in the Cahokia.
Also in the Cahokia, Breese Central beat Roxana 9-6, Freeburg shutout Wood River 10-0.
Williamson Fantastic In CORLHS Win
Emma Williamson struck out 13 and led Christ Our Rock past Woodlawn 4-3. She scattered 3 hits and allowed no earned runs with just 2 walks. At the plate, Christ Our Rock got RBI from Alayna French, Katie Oelze, Williamson. Kylie Nalewajka went 2-2 with 2 runs.
Haily Lane Tosses No No and Homers In Lady Eagles Win
Odin/Patoka improved to 2-0 in the MTC with their 12-1 win over Weber. Hailey Lane had 2 hits including a home run while throwing a no-hitter and striking out 10. Gwen Belcher, Brooklynn Hill and Amiya Ray all had a hit. The Eagles are 5-6 and will travel to Carlyle tomorrow.
SC’s Johnson & Webster Combine for no-hitter
South Central routed Neoga 16-0 on the road as Taegan Webster and Lauren Johnson combined for the 4-inning no-hitter. At the plate, Webster had a monster day as she doubled, tripled and drove in 6 runs. Zoey Feldhake and Kaitlyn Swift added 2 RBI, Amelia Montes and Johnson also drove in runs.
Also on the softball scoreboard, Altamont beat Olney 5-3, Brownstown/St Elmo beat North Clay 14-6, Centralia fell to Carbondale 12-6, Carlyle shutout Sparta 12-0, Mount Vernon over Mattoon 9-5, Patoka/Odin routed Weber 12-1, Wesclin 6-5 over Red Bud.
