The Salem Wildcats open up their Cahokia Conference baseball schedule today with a home game against Columbia.

Salem hosted Odin/Patoka/Sandoval yesterday.  The War-Eagles came out swinging as they took an early 4-0 lead, but Salem would tie it with 4 runs in the bottom of the 2nd, and would take the lead with 6 runs in the fourth to win 14-5.  Noah Nix homered for his 2nd of the year, Josh Powless had 2 doubles and drove in 3, Gavin Zimmermann doubled and drove in 2, Jalen Inlow also doubled as part of a 2-3 day scoring 3 runs and driving in another and Kam Wilkins also doubled home a run.  Keaton Gullion scored twice, including the go ahead run in the 4th.  Deytin Parker got the start and worked 1/3 of an inning, but Wilkins came in and was great finishing the rest of the game, exactly what the coaching staff needed with a game today against Columbia and a double header with Belleville West and Triad looming on Saturday.

For Odin, Heydin Purcell got the start allowing just 1 hit and 3 earned runs in 2 innings.  Williams and Lane worked the last 4 innings.  Cambden Parrish drove in a pair of runs, Purcell and Chapman added RBI as well.

The JV will play at Columbia.

South Central is on the road at St Elmo/Brownstown.

Christ Our Rock fell on the last play of the game, losing to Metro East Lutheran 11-10.  Jayden Bazile drove in 2 runs for the Stallions with RBI also from Christian Nollman, Parker Boehne, Da’Mari Dabney, Brayden Albert, Drew Leuking and Evan Beal.

In prep baseball yesterday, Freeburg lost to Belleville West 10-2, Mater Dei lost to Civic Memorial 8-7, Breese Central nipped Greenville 3-2, Centralia 12-2 winners over Flora, Mount Vernon lost to DuQuoin 5-4, Nashville shutout Carlyle 10-0, Roxana 2-0 winners over Jerseyville and St Anthony beat Altamont 3-2 in 8 innings.
