The Salem Lady Wildcats are now 6-1 on the season after a pair of wins in DuQuoin on Saturday.
Salem opened with a dominating 15-0 win in five innings over New Athens. Lilly Blagoue was the winning pitcher allowing just 1 hit and struck out 9. At the plate, Olivia Paulson homered and drove in 5 runs. Bria Murray had a home run, Izzy Decker had a run scoring triple and Allie Hustedde also had an RBI. Blagoue drove in a pair.
Salem then beat DuQuoin 12-5. Bre Thurman was the winning pitcher going all 7 allowing 7 hits and 3 earned runs with 8 strikeouts. At the plate, Paulson had another big game with a double and 4 RBI, Decker drove in 2 with RBI also from Mya Russell, Blagoue and Murray. Thurman added a triple.
