The Salem Wildcats improved to 2-4 on the season with a road win at Charleston 15-5 in six innings. Salem used 9 runs in the fifth to blow the game open. Rhett Detering had 2 hits and drove in 3, Gavin Zimmermann added 2 RBI with runs driven in from Jalen Inlow, Josh Powless, Colton Shelton, Cooper Lobek and Kam Wilkins. Inlow got the win in relief of Ayden Rose who worked the first 2.1 innings. Inlow allowed 4 hits and one earned run in his 3.2 innings. Salem looks to make it 3 straight wins today when they host Centralia.
The Salem JV fell to 3-3 on the year with a wild 21-11 loss at Charleston. Salem grabbed a 4-0 lead after the top of the first inning, but Charleston would score 6 in their half of the inning to take the lead. Salem would tie it with 2 in the 2nd, but the Trojans followed up with 6 more in their half to take a 12-6 lead. Salem battled back and scored 3 times in the fifth to make it 12-11 but the home team put it away with a 9 run fifth to short game Salem. Evan Barnes doubled and drove in 2. Aden Rostance also had 2 RBI with runs driven in by Carter Lowe who had 3 hits, Avery Gullion and Hudson Gambill. Brody Collier took the loss going the first 1.2 innings. Rostance and Max Vincent finished up the game. Keytin Grawe scored 3 runs and doubled, Colton Rogers added an RBI and Eli Lograsso scored 2 runs. The JV will host Centralia this afternoon at the Little League Complex.
The SC Cougars improved to 3-0 with a 10-0 short-game win over Cisne at Lions Field. Brody Markley, Colby Bursott, Coen West and Hoover all drove in 2 runs. West was the winning pitcher going 2.2 allowing no hits and struck out 6.
