The Salem Lady Wildcats dropped their home opener to Mount Vernon yesterday 4-2. Mount Vernon scored 4 runs through the first four innings before Salem would make their comeback attempt. Lilly Blagoue and Bre Thurman both pitched well. Thurman hit a solo home run and Marah Johnson drove in a run. Nat Lee and Blagoue each had a hit on the day. Salem is back in action today at home against Effingham.
Christ Our Rock softball is now 2-2 with their 15-0 win over Althoff. Alayna French had a huge day with 5 RBI and 2 runs scored. Katie Oelze drove in 3 runs for the Lady Stallions. Emma Williamson and Oelze combined for the shutout in the circle.
South Central beat Webber 15-0 in four innings. Lauren Johnson was the winning pitcher allowing just 2 hits and striking out 6. At the plate, Bri Buchanan homered, Johnson also went deep and drove in 5 runs. Abi Shuler doubled and drove in 2 with RBI also from Kyra Swift and Emily Rose as well as 2 from Kinlee Thompson.
Also in prep softball, Altamont shutout North Clay 15-0, Effingham routed Vandalia 25-0, Johnston City over Woodlawn 11-5, Wesclin lost to Mascoutah 8-7, St Anthony 16-3 over Olney and TTown beat Ramsey 18-3.
