The Salem Community High School Board Monday night approved a new contract for Assistant Principal Clint Wolfe.   The new agreement extends from July 1st, 2024 to June 30th, 2027.

The board also named Connor Brooks as a physical education teacher for the next school year.

Thirteen other teachers on tenure were re-employed for the next school year.  They are Barth Bookhout, Pete Colclasure, Kendra Henderson, Dakota Koehnke, Jackie Malan, Megan Molenhour, Kyla Motch, Vanessa Randolph, Lillie Risley, Ashley Savage, Savannah Taylor, Mindy Veach and Allison West.

The board finalized and approved its contract agreement with Ameresco for renovations to take place this summer. The contract was originally approved last month, but upon recognizing a typographical error the school made corrections to the contract and re-approved it at this meeting. The renovations will consist of new floor tiles, paint, lockers, and signage in the academic hallways.

The board also approved the annual IHSA membership application and employment of personnel.

Assistant Principal Wolfe delivered the Parent Teacher Advisory Committee report, in which the committee discusses rising unexcused absences and possible incentives and penalties to improve attendance. The committee also discussed changing the school’s policy for the use of delivery services such as Doordash by students, which is currently allowed. Due to security concerns, Wolfe suggested that a compromise rule where use of these services is limited to certain days would be appropriate.
