The Salem Lady Wildcats saw their 5-0 late lead yesterday at Benton erased as the Lady Rangers would take a 6-5 lead scoring 6 times in the sixth inning, only to see Salem score 2 runs in the 7th to improve to 2-0 on the season with a 7-6 win. Olivia Paulson singled home the tying run and Marah Johnson doubled home the go ahead run for Salem. It backed a great outing by Breanna Thurman who struck out 11 allowing no earned runs and scattered 8 hits. Salem got 2 hits from Paulson and Johnson, Mya Russell added a double along with Thurman. Alivia Rasul also had a single, RBI and run scored.
Christ Our Rock opened with a 7-3 win over Odin/Patoka/Sandoval. Emma Williamson led the Stallions with a homer and 3 RBI. She also earned the win in the circle striking out 12 allowing 5 hits and 2 earned runs. Payton Jett drove in 2 for the Stallions as well.
Also last night, Centralia beat Okawville 5-4, Mount Vernon over Hamilton County 3-0, Mater Dei beat Alton 8-2, Carlyle 4-0 over Mulberry Grove, Christ Our Rock beat Odin 7-6, Woodlawn fell to DuQuoin 13-3, Roxana 14-7 winners over Gibault and Wesclin outgunned Greenville 13-11.
