Salem Fire Protection District officials say about an acre of grass and woods burned in a fire on the Nancy Wood property in the 3400 block of Levy Road southwest of Salem Wednesday afternoon.
Firemen say the fire spread from a controlled burn that got out of hand.
No buildings were threatened.
The fire call came in at three on Wednesday afternoon. Firemen were on the scene for about 30 minutes.
