Ruth Anna Carpenter, a lifelong resident of Centralia, IL, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 9, 2025, at the age of 93. Ruth was born on Tuesday, February 9, 1932 to Harry Hulsopple and Bessie Marie.

She is survived by her loving son, Bill Carpenter of Houston, TX; her granddaughter, Melynda Breeze and husband Adam of Mt. Vernon; and her cherished grandchildren, AJ Breeze, Anna Breeze, and Brooks Breeze. Ruth also leaves behind several dear cousins.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Jim Mahaney and Bessie Marie, her beloved daughter Bess Wesling, and son-in-law Bud Wesling.

Following a fulfilling career, Ruth retired from Murray’s Center and had previously worked at Miss Elaine’s. Her dedication extended beyond her professional life as she was an active member of the Red Hat Society and the Lioness Club. Ruth had a giving spirit, which she demonstrated through her volunteer work as a Pink Lady at St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she was a committed member of the St. Peter’s United Church of Christ.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Ruth’s life at a funeral service on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home. Visitation will be held an hour prior, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the same location.
