The SIJHSAA Carterville Bowling Sectionals were held on Saturday with area schools including Franklin Park and Selmaville competing.
Franklin Park won the boys regional (2123) followed by Harrisburg (2106), Herrin (2069). Selmaville (2052) was 4th and advances to state along with Rome (1897), OLMC (1806) and Carterville (1748). Not advancing but competing were Kell (1409) 10th, Casey (1329) 12th, Central City (1064) 15th and Woodlawn (1035) 16th.
Jackson Mikesel of Central City was the individual champion (617) followed in the top 4 by Luke Pankey of Harrisburg (609), Cooper Bradley of Rome (598) and Kai Graham of Franklin Park (596). Selmaville’s Logan Butts and Bobcats Kolby Hempen tied for 5th (588) with other Rockets Carter Shanafelt 11, Jaxon Ward 19, Gavin Harper 37. For the Bobcats, Kellen Nix was 47 and Bentley Bryan tied for 52nd. Also competing Kell’s Ryan JOnes was 42, Walker Sherwin 44, Zane Morton tied for 542nd and Lane Barnfield was 61st.
Selmaville won the girls title (1559) followed by Casey Mount Vernon (1349) and Central City (1346). They advance to this weekend’s state tournament along with Bluford (1318), Franklin Park (1260), Spring Garden (1114) and Herrin (1107). Rome (1070) failed to advance finishing 9th.
Individually, Casey’s Molli Jo McGraw was the champion (480) followed by Talya Gowler (472) of Selmaville. Kaylee Easley of Central City was 4th. Following Gowler for the Lady Rocets were Shelby Johnson 5th, Adrienne Birch 11, Alana Finney 63rd. Franklin Park was led by Ivy Villalobos who was 10th, Makynzi Hurd 13, Lilly Morris 20, Hadley Allison 43 and Lilah Barrow 51. McKenna Vandaveer of Central City was 6, Aslyn Amason 15 and Brooklyn Upton 37.
