Gary Eugene Hutchison, 77, peacefully went into his heavenly home, surrounded by his family on Thursday, February 27th, 2025.

Gary was born February 8, 1948 in Centralia, IL, the son of Eugene and Gladys ”Georgie” (Merkle) Hutchison. He married his best friend, Donna “Jolene” (Ferguson) Hutchison on November 23, 1999 and she survives.

Gary was raised in the Village of Central City, where he made lifelong memories with friends and family. He was a Centralia High School Graduate and retired from the City of Centralia Public Works Department.

Gary was a member of the Boyd Christian Church, where he served in years past as deacon, on the benevolent team, and a proud door greeter. He always had a smile and word of encouragement and was happy to share his testimony to his journey of sobriety of 37 years.

Gary was an avid fisherman. He fished many bass tournaments and was sponsored by Ranger Boats. He also proudly coached the Woodlawn High School Bass Fishing Team from 2015 – 2018. Gary loved the outdoors, his family, and watching his grandkids sports, Fishing, horseback riding, hunting, trapping, traveling, and building hot rods with his special friend, Joe Lamb. Gary loved animals, especially his dogs, Sammy, Toby, and Happy Jack.

in addition to his wife of 25 years: Jolene Hutchison, Gary is also survived by his children: Christina (Hutchison) Brunson and husband Philip, Tracy (Hutchison) DeVore husband Kyle, Teresa Hutchison, Jim Draege, David Draege and wife Mary. He will be dearly missed by his loving grandchildren: Nick, Noah, Emma, Zak, Kaden and fiancé Courtney, Elsie, Madison and husband Nathan, Ava, Hendrix, Madison and husband Colton, Trinity and fiancé Kolton, Ryder, Lydia, Zion, Scarlett, and Sicily. Also left to mourn his passing is his brothers-in-law: Larry Ferguson and wife Vickie and Jeffrey; his sister-in-law: Diane Hostetler and husband Larry, several nieces and nephews: Curtis, Heather, Chrissy and Jared, Stacey, Becca, Matt, Monique, Zack, Brad, John, Brandon, Quinton, and as well as several great nieces and nephews.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, sister: Virginia “Ginny” Hutchison Atkins and husband Russ, mother and father- in-law: Donald and JoAnn Ferguson, brother-in-law: Randy, sister-in-law: Melissa, and his great nephew: Holdyn.

A Celebration of Life Service will be Sunday, March 9, 2025 at 6:00 PM at the Boyd Christian Church in Boyd, Illinois. A visitation take place from 4:00 PM until the time of service at the church.
