Nelson Scores 71 Points In 2 Games Thursday To Lead Altamont To 1a 3rd Place…Okawvillle & Nashville Advance To State Title Games Repping Washington County

Altamont took 3rd place at the IHSA Class 1a state tournament splitting a pair of games yesterday at CEFCU Arena in Normal.  Altamont lost their semifinal game in overtime 60-48.  Nelson scored 32 points in the loss.  In the 3rd place game last night, Altamont regrouped and came out with amazing energy winning 64-56 win over Peru St Bede with Nelson adding another 39.  She scored 71 points on the day finishing 2 points shy of the State Tournament record as the Lady Indians finish their historic season at 28-7.  Nelson will return to Normal next season as she is signed to play with Illinois State.

Defending 1a state champion Okawville did win their state semifinal as they beat Peru St Bede 44-30 and the Lady Rockets will return to the floor tomorrow morning at 11am for the 1a state title game.

In 2a, Nashville is looking for their first state title since 2013, they opened with a 52-36 win over Robinson.  They will play at 1pm tomorrow against Peoria Notre Dame who had no problems beating Regina Dominican 71-25.  Robinson then won the 3rd place game over Regina 51-44.

The 3a/4a State Semifinals and 3rd place games are today.  The first 3a semifinal is Chatham Glenwood and Hinsdale South followed by Lombard Montini and undefeated Lincoln.  The 3rd place game is tonight at 6:30.

The 4a semifinals will see Waubonsie Valley playing Nazareth Park followed by Loyola Academy and Palatine Fremd.  That 3rd place game is tonight at 7:45.
