Tracie Rajean Harrell, age 62 of Dix, passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at her home,
Tracie was born on May 17, 1962, in Flora, Illinois, the daughter of Jerry King and Mary Lou (Cannon) Waggoner.
Survivors include her children, Kristen Harrell of St. Louis, MO, Mitchell Harrell of East Alton, IL, and Jeffery Harrell of East Alton, IL; siblings, Allen Waggoner and Becky of Pilot Rock, OR, Connie Mulvaney and Chad of Kinmundy, Julie Brandenburg and Keith of Salem, Matt King and wife Teresa of East Alton; and special nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jerry King; her mother, Mary Lou Waggoner; her adoptive father, Bryan Waggoner; a sister, Sarah Bray; and the father of her children, Mike Harrell.
Tracie worked as a paralegal and had a natural talent for writing, with two published books and another in progress. She had a deep love for animals and a passion for gardening, blessed with a green thumb. She enjoyed collecting Native American artifacts, watching John Wayne westerns, and listening to Elvis Presley.
Celebration of Life services will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. at Iron Saddle Ranch in Salem with her brother Allen Waggoner officiating. There will be a time to visit with the family from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions can be made to the family and will be received at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem who is assisting the family with arrangements.
