The South Central School Board has decided to move high school graduation to a Sunday afternoon.
The board Wednesday night set the high school graduation for Sunday, May 19th at two pm. The move was made to avoid late-season sports contests and to give families more time to celebrate after graduation.
Eighth-grade graduation was set for Thursday night, May 16th, at 7 pm.
The board approved a resolution to issue working cash bonds for $ 1.2 million over the next three years. They had the option to refinance the existing working cash bonds into the new bond issue but elected not to include them.
The board approved a $153,163 bid from Lakeside Roofing Company to replace the roof at the high school gym that is leaking. The work, which came in under budget, will be completed this summer.
The board approved a $142,755 bid from Purcell Electric to replace the outdated electrical panel boxes at South Central Middle School.
Superintendent Kerry Herdes reported he is in the process of finalizing a contract with Utopian Energy to install solar energy fields at all three schools.
The board accepted the resignations of Angela Brubaker as a teacher’s aide and Lauren Fox as a middle school cheer sponsor.
The board hired Tina Chappel to be a teacher’s aide and Jake Skibinski as the middle school track coach.
