Suzanne Jane Pollard, 87, of Salem, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, on February 4th, 2025, at Odin Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born August 30th, 1937, to Melvin and Hattie (Stanford) Tinkler in Iuka, Illinois. She married the love of her life, Leo Pollard, on December 24th, 1954, and they would spend 33 wonderful years together until his passing in 1988.
She is survived by two sons: Roy Pollard of Salem and Forest (Venetia) Pollard of Odin; two daughters: Christina Smith of Walnut Hill and Anita Pollard of Salem; seventeen grandchildren: Marie Pollard, Joshua Foltz, Dorothy Pollard, Melissa Pollard, Ryan Nix, Ray Nix, Jennifer Craig, Johnnie Smith, Dathan Smith, Lonnie Smith, Neil Smith, Tiffany Smith, Stephanie Smith, Christopher Smith, Angelina Smith, Kendrick Wesley, and Noah Bumgardner; one sister: Treva (Dave) McDowell of Kinmundy; and one sister-in-law: Doris Powell.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Melvin and Hattie Tinkler; her husband: Leo Pollard; one brother: Forest Ray Tinkler; and an infant sister: Melva Jean Tinkler.
Suzanne was a long-time member of the Salem First Baptist Church. She was a homemaker, that enjoyed doing crafts, ceramics, painting, and especially quilting. The biggest joy of her life came from spending time with her family. She will be missed by all that knew her.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on February 11th, 2025, at the Sutherland-Rankin Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Andy Dewitt officiating. Burial will follow at East Lawn Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held from 11:00 am till the time of service for all family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or Odin Healthcare and Rehabilitation and will be accepted at Sutherland-Rankin Funeral Home, PO Box 97 / 310 N.
