The Salem City Council Monday night will consider a $31,700 bid to construct a new building at the Public Works Department on Oak Park Street next to Tully Park.
Interim City Manager Annette Sola says with concrete work for the floor and electrical work the total cost of the 42 by 24 foot building will be no more than $50,000. She reports the building will provide much needed storage for the parks department.
This will be the second new building for the Public Works complex after two older buildings were demolished in early 2023. The replacement employee building was built last year with the second new building being budgeted in 2024.
The council will also be asked to award a $6,750 contract for professional services to Gonzalez Companies, LLC to complete the monitoring of 28 wells at the shuttered city landfill that is required every two years.
Sola is requesting two older flat bed trucks that are no longer safe to use be sold as surplus property. The two trucks have last been used as the leaf vac trucks.
The Salem City Council meeting begins at six Monday night at Salem City Hall.
