Today is the championship semifinals of the Vandalia Girls Mid-Winter Tournament. At 6pm the top seed Effingham Hearts take on Salem followed by Centralia and Greenville at 7:30. The winners advance to Saturday’s title game at 2:30, the loser will play at 1pm for 3rd place.
Tomorrow is the consolation semifinals, the Salem JV will take on Mascoutah and Vandalia and Wesclin will play the night cap.
Last night in girls basketball, Breese Central nipped Highland 48-44, Mater Dei over Taylorville 55-42, Marion beat Pinckneyville 60-54, Mt Carmel over Olney 45-26, Windsor/Stew-Stras beat North Clay 59-48.
