Mark A. Spencer, age 57 of Keyesport, passed away at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri on Saturday, January 11, 2025.
Mark was born in East St. Louis, Illinois on May 18, 1967, a son of the late Delmar R. and Carol D. (Pappas) Turley. A true hippie at heart, Mark was a child of the 60s, grew up in the 70s, and kept on truckin’ on through the 80s and beyond! He loved strumming his guitar and listening to music, and he always looked forward to attending concerts with his son. Mark could spend hours enjoying a cold beer and trying to answer the question of which is the best band of all time, Led Zeppelin or The Rolling Stones. Beyond his love for rock and roll, Mark enjoyed the peace of the outdoors, hunting, and fishing.
Mr. Spencer is survived by his children, Melinda Spencer (Andre), Matthew Spencer, and Rhiannon Pingsterhaus (Kyle); as well as his grandchildren, Xavier, Lillian, Jaxx, and Ozzie. He is also survived by his stepbrother, Carl Gallion, Jr., and his former wife, Lynn (Shumacher).
Mark was preceded in death by his parents; his stepbrother, Doug Turley; and Doug’s wife, Linda Turley.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation at Zieren Funeral Home, 1111 Clinton Street, Carlyle, IL 62231, from 4:00 – 6:00 PM on Friday, January 17, 2025.
