It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lana Jo Klomps, 78, of Breese on December 29th, 2024. She was born on September 7th, 1946, in Peoria to Elton Carter and Helen (Hughes) Klosterman. She would marry Richard Klomps on May 23rd, 1992 and they would spend 32 magnificent years together.
She is survived by her husband: Richard Klomps; two daughters: Tammy Miller, and Dawn (Doug) Long, two step-sons Chris (Michelle) Klomps and Ken Klomps; grandchildren: Amanda (Dandre) Dove, Douglas Dunahee, Dakota (Ashley) Sluder, Austin (Katrina) Sluder, Alison Denning, Tyler Long, Josh Long, Brianna Klomps, Dylan Klomps, William Klomps, Benjamin Klomps, Erin Klomps, Madison Klomps, Preston Klomps, Abigail Klomps, Kimberlee Klomps, Grayson Klomps, Jillian Klomps, and Issac Klomps; nine great-grandchildren with two more on the way. Several nieces and nephews and two life-long friends, Brenda Morris and Paulette Mason.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Elton and Norma Carter and Helen and Walter Klosterman; sister Eva Jane Conrad; brother David Carter; and stepson John Klomps
Lana and Rich loved to play darts and were members of the Southern Illinois Dart Association. They also built an award-winning garden at their home in Breese, where she would spend hours watching the butterflies and hummingbirds enjoying the flowers and feeders she kept for them. Christmas was her favorite time of the year. Her entire house became a winter wonderland, with every room having its own theme and a personalized stocking for everyone who walked through the door. You always felt welcomed and never left empty-handed.
Memorial Services will be held Friday, January 10th, 2024, at 7:00 PM at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia. A Visitation with family & friends will be held on Friday, January 10th, 2024, from 5:00 pm until the time of service at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be to the Centralia Cultural Society and will be accepted at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home at 235 North Sycamore Street Centralia, Illinois 62801, (618)532-3523, who is honored to be of service to Lana’s family.
