A 42-year-old Centralia man has been sentenced to five years in prison after entering a negotiated plea to a charge of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon.

As part of the plea, Robert Jones of Cedar Street had companion charges of felony domestic battery, aggravated assault, and endangering the life and health of a child dismissed.  Those charges claimed Jones struck a family member, pointed a gun, and threatened to kill him while he was holding a child.

Two other felony counts of aggravated battery and aggravated domestic battery as well as another felony domestic battery case were all dropped as part of the plea.

After getting out of prison, Jones was ordered to complete six months of mandatory supervised release, make a $200 contribution to the public defender, and given credit for 88 days already served in jail.

Jones entered the plea on Friday, just ahead of a jury trial scheduled for next week.
