Tri-County Electric Cooperative reports a dropped transmission line by Ameren Illinois led to a 50-minute power outage to nearly 4,000 Tri-County customers in Marion County.

Tri-County reports the outage knocked off the Salem, South Salem, and Iuka Substations.

The outage began around 9:30 on Thursday morning.  Power was restored around 10:20 am.

The problem also caused a large number of Ameren customers in the Salem area to be briefly left without power.

No word yet from Ameren Illinois on what set off the problem.
