Multiple fire departments responded to an early Friday morning fire on the roof of one of the buildings at Continental Tire in Mt. Vernon.
Jefferson Fire officials say the fire was spotted from the parking lot. Since it was uncertain what was on fire, the multiple departments were called before it became clear the fire was in a dust collector. It was put out by employees before the fire department arrived.
Firemen then checked to make sure the fire had not spread.
Mt. Vernon City, Bluford, and Waltonville Firemen responded to the scene with Jefferson Fire. Salem, Kell and the Centralia Fire Protection District all stood by at the Jefferson Fire Station in the event of another fire.
The fire call came in at 4:30 Friday morning.
