Husband, Father, Grandfather, Mentor. Harris E. Harris, born September 21, 1948, left this world surrounded by family on Saturday, December 7, 2024. Harris filled his retirement serving as a baliff for the Jefferson County Courthouse, also preparing taxes for AARP Tax Service. After 20 years, in 2012 Harris retired from the Big Muddy Correctional Institute. Prior to that, he served 20 years on Mt. Vernon USPS with stints as an auxiliary officer and semi truck driver in between. Harris was an avid golfer, motorcycle enthusiasts and continual learner. He received an Associates of Arts and of Criminal Justice. Most importantly, he spent decades studying Jesus and the Bible as a member of Grace Docturine Church, taking countless opportunities to share the truth with family, friends, inmates and anyone who might listen – even those who wouldn’t. Harris is preceded in death by his parents, Edward Spears and Sufrona Harris. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Lois. Three daughters, Cheryl, Dana (Darin), and Kelly (Mike). Three sons, Allen (Danna), Steve (Julie), and Adam (Renn), 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to specifically thank the Oza Cancer Center, and SSM Hospice, along with the friends and family for their kindness, professionalism, and prayers.
