A rural Alma home is expected to be a total loss following an early morning fire.
Kinmundy-Alma Fire Chief Kevin Day flames were already through the roof in the kitchen area of the Josh Krause home at 4431 Brubaker Road in rural Alma when they arrived on the scene around four Monday morning.
The fire is believed to have started in the kitchen area and then gutted most of the rest of the home.
The Krause family was staying in a camper next to the home. There were no injuries.
Firemen had also been called to the home around seven Sunday night when the deep frying of a turkey caused a fire to spread to the siding on the home. Day doesn’t believe the two fires are connected, but he has asked the State Fire Marshal’s office to investigate the cause of the blaze.
Salem Firemen were called for mutual aid and brought additional water to the scene.
Even though the temperature was below freezing, Day says they did not have problems with freezing water.
Firemen were on the scene for about four hours.
