A lighted Christmas Parade with more than 20 entries help culminate a day of activities in Kinmundy during the first ever Christmas through the Ages Celebration.
Mayor Angie Diss was impressed with the turnout for all the events, but can’t exactly say why.
“I’m not sure, we promoted it a lot. It was a combination of a lot of things. Good weather and people just wanting to come out and have a good time.”
Some of the top float winners were GMJ County Acres featuring a reindeer, sleigh, and Christmas tree and the South Central FFA both won Best Theme. The Most Lighted Float was Snoddy Concrete and Construction. The best school group or organization displaying Christmas Spirit was the Kinmundy Christian Church Switch Junior High Youth Group. Chris Sees entry won Most Creative for converting an RV into the Griswold’s Christmas Vacation. Best Costume not on a float went to Tony Wimberly. A lighted float powered by a power wheels won Alexander Hallett the best children’s entry.
A long line formed to see Santa and Mrs Clause after the parade at the library. Earlier in the day there was a live nativity scene, vendor fair, scavenger hunt and a number of other activities.
Diss wants to grow the new event even more next year.
