The 2023 Kaskaskia College Royale Winter Gala was a sellout at the Salem Community Activity Center over the weekend.

College President George Evans says the event is the biggest fundraiser of the year of the Kaskaskia College Foundation.

“I think we are on pace to raise at least $60,000 and that will benefit current and future students to the college.   For those that we do our best to remove any barriers that are preventing them from getting their certificate or degree.  So this money, every dollar we raise here tonight, goes specifically towards the non-traditional student, the KC Now program, and any benefit the Foundation can provide to these students…this money tonight is what makes that happen.”

The Foundation President is Wes Gozia of Salem who was also pleased with the support for the event.

“The turnout for the event has been amazing.  Our Executive Director and his team did a great job getting everyone out here.  We have a great crowd.  The importance of this to the Foundation is huge because we focus on trying to make meaningful impacts on people’s lives by giving them educational opportunities they may not otherwise have.  That’s good for our community because the better educated people are the better it is for the community.  So it makes everybody better.”

There were a total of 263 tickets sold which resulted in the need to find space for an additional table. While the final amount raised is not yet available, it could be a new record.
