115-mile police chase up I-57 results in $250,000 drug bust

A Los Angeles, California man was found in possession of a large amount of drugs following a 115-mile-long police chase on I-57 from near Marion to Effingham through the local area.

The Williamson County Sheriff’s Department reports Dejon Wooden traveled at speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour during the chase where he is accused of passing multiple semi-tractor-trailers in the emergency lane and attempting to run deputies off the roadway.

The chase eventually ended when Wooden was successfully stopped in Effingham in a Precision Immobilization Technique where his vehicle was boxed in by squad cars resulting in his vehicle being disabled.

Williamson County Deputies say they recovered 80.3 pounds of cannabis and 760 pounds of the schedule two narcotic Promethazine.  The estimated street value of the drugs is placed at $250,000.

Wooden was arrested on Class X felony charges of cannabis trafficking and possession with intent to deliver cannabis along with controlled substance trafficking, aggravated assault, aggravated fleeing and eluding, and multiple traffic violations.
