Marilyn Elizabeth (Fairchild) Barker, 93, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 5:13 pm on November 20, 2024, at Mount Vernon Countryside Manor in Mount Vernon. She was born August 27, 1931, in Mount Vernon to the late Louis Murray Fairchild and Minnie Mae (York) Sowers. Marilyn married Bob Barker on October 22, 1959, in Mount Vernon. He preceded her in death on April 28, 2003.
Marilyn is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Elaine Bost and husband, Dr. Richard Bost of Cocoa Beach, Florida; grandchildren, Ryan Allston, Jacob Allston, and Elizabeth Brooke Allston, all of Florida; and cousins, Beverly Coberly, Sherry Meadows, Carolyn McKee, and Theresa Ile.
Marilyn was a member of Logan Street Baptist Church. She was a model for many stores in Mount Vernon over the years, including Artistic Beauty Salon, and won two beauty contests. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew and loved her.
Per her wishes, there will be no services held at this time. Inurnment will take place at Oakwood Cemetery in Mount Vernon at a later date. Memorials may be made in Marilyn’s honor to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
