Bruce Harry Robinson, 73, of Orange City, Florida passed away after a lengthy illness on November 7, 2024, at his home with his loving wife, Brenda, of 44 years by his side.
Bruce was born Oct. 21, 1951, in Salem, Illinois, and was the son of Otto Harry Robinson, Jr. and Reba Taylor Robinson. He married Brenda Gail Hays, on December 24, 1980. He spent much of his working career in construction and as a mobile marine mechanic.
Bruce graduated from Salem Community High School in 1969 and attended Bailey Auto and Diesel Technical School in St. Louis, MO. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Qsan, Korea and Utapo, Thailand during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1974. He loved the outdoors and was an avid sportsman whether it was bass fishing, air boating, alligator hunting, shrimping, hunting or just being on the water. He thoroughly enjoyed his time fishing in bass tournaments all over the state. He was a lifelong member of the Salem Presbyterian Church in Salem, Illinois
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Gail Hays Robinson. Sisters: Roberta Ruth Horita (John) of Hilo, HI, Marilyn Ann Royal (Richard) of Camilla, GA., and Marla Kay Brewer-Corso (Albert) of Mulkeytown Il. He was loved by many including his sister-in-law, Lisa Hays Hocking and nieces and nephews: Sean K. Horita of Seattle, WA, Maile E. Horita of Hilo, HI, Joel F. Engelhardt of St. Louis, MO, Christopher W. Brewer of Colombia, South America, Amy T. Brewer of St. Louis, MO, Michael B. Hocking and Rebecca L. Hocking Spencer of Kell, IL as well as Robinson cousins in Olney, IL , cousins of the Taylor clan in Biglerville, PA, and cousins from Louisiana.
Bruce is preceded in death by his parents, Otto Harry Robinson, Jr. and Reba Ellen Taylor Robinson; his maternal grandparents, Bruce B. Taylor and wife Myrtle O. Taylor of Biglerville, PA; paternal grandparents Otto Harry Robinson, Sr., and wife Lillian W. Robinson of Bridgeport, IL; and brother-in-law William Steve Anton Brewer of St. Louis, MO.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Salem Youth Fishing in care of Salem Community High School, 1200 N. Broadway, Salem, IL. 62881, the American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.
