2024 11/07 – Elizabeth Patricia ‘Pat’ Ellis

Elizabeth Patricia “Pat” Ellis, 83, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 1:34 am on November 1, 2024, at Green Tree Memory Care in Mount Vernon. She was born October 27, 1941, in Richmond, Kentucky to Carlos Young and Margaret (Rayburn) Young.

Pat went to Summersville School and Mount Vernon High School where she met her husband-to-be, Gary Ellis. They married in 1957 and moved to the family farm in Wayne County between Keenes and Orchardville and began farming there. They had one son, Robbie Leon Ellis, born in 1964.

Pat later worked at the garment factory in Wayne City for many years and eventually went to work for the post office in Mount Vernon doing many different jobs until she retired.  Her son Robbie helped with the farm and married Lisa (Fleener) and also opened a motorcycle shop near Mount Vernon and they had two girls, Anna and Kaili. She was known by many people from her work at the post office.

Pat is survived by her daughter-in-law, Lisa Ellis; granddaughters, Anna and Kaili “Kyle” and friend, August; older brother, Dr. Byron Young of Lexington Kentucky; half brothers, Steve and David Stout of Mount Vernon, of whom she was very close to; and close friend, Chuck.

Pat was preceded in death by her father, Carlos Young; mother, Margaret (Rayburn) Young Stout; husband, Gary Ellis; and son, Robbie Ellis.

Pat loved to travel. She loved dancing and feeding the family on Thanksgiving and Christmas. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and sister. Pat will be sorely missed by all.

A Graveside Service will be held Thursday, November 7, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Garrison Temple Cemetery in Wayne City, Illinois with Reverend Randy Hayes officiating. Interment will follow.

Memorials may be made in Pat’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association.
