William “Aaron” Sides, 44, of Patoka passed away Monday, October 28, 2024. He was born on February 19, 1980, the son of William D. and Peggy (Gouchenouer) Sides in Bloomington, IL.
Survivors include his mother, Peggy Blunt of Patoka; his father, Bill Sides (Janell) of Patoka; his children, Austin Sides (Daniele) of Vandalia, Melissa Sides of Vandalia, Elizabeth Bennett of Florida; his grandchildren, Greger Sides, Angel Warren, and Deklan Sides; his sisters, Tabatha Sides of Vandalia, Hanna Sides of Vandalia, and Crissy Emerson of New Mexico; many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends.
Aaron was preceded in death by his stepfather, Phil Blunt.
Aaron attended Patoka High School where he made many lasting friendships. He was a hard worker, a great provider for his family, and a member of the Pipefitters’ Local #597. He was a member of the Moose Lodge #1447 in Vandalia. Aaron began his Mason work and achieved his enter-apprentice degree at the Hiram Lodge #503. He enjoyed participating in demolition derbies and looked forward to getting his derby car ready next year. Aaron was a grill master, grilling the best meals for family and friends to enjoy. He never missed an opportunity to spend time outdoors, hunting for deer and rabbits, fishing for his next big catch, and riding his side-by-side. Aaron was a proud “PaPa”, sharing stories of all the great things his grandchildren were doing. Aaron stayed forever young and was known as a “big kid”, who was always fun to be around. Aaron will be deeply missed by all who loved him, and they will carry his memory forever in their hearts.
A celebration of life service will be held at noon. Saturday, November 2, 2024, at the Day Macz Funeral Home in Patoka with Rev. Dale Burner officiating. Masonic Rites by the Hiram Lodge #503. Interment will follow at Pratt Cemetery in rural Patoka. A visitation time will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home in Patoka. Memorials may be made in Aaron’s honor to Day Macz Funeral Home to assist the family with expenses.
