Brandon Neil Sauter, age 35 of Salem, passed away on Monday, October 21, 2024, at his home.
Brandon was born on January 24, 1989, in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, the son of Kenneth Sauter and Karen (Hackworth) Hanks. He married Sarah Pokojski on July 15, 2023, at the Kinmundy United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah Sauter of Salem, parents, Kenneth Sauter and wife Peggy of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Karen Hanks and husband Tom of Iuka; children, Madison Sauter, Jake Alvis, and Kylie Sauter all of Salem; siblings, Curt Jones and wife Kim of Omega, Chad Jones and wife Katie of Ardmore, Oklahoma, Amber Sauter and Brittany Sauter both of Iuka, Abbey Sauter of Nashville, Briana Sauter, and Kendra Sauter both of Knoxville, Tennessee; and a stepbrother, Guy Hanks (Tiffanie) of St. Peter. He was also survived by several nieces, nephews, and many close friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Louis and Susan Sauter, and Cathryn McIntosh; his aunt, Dee Dee Cordes, a cousin, Joey Claypool, and a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Pokojski.
Brandon was a patriot and was in the Army National Guard where he had been serving his country for over 12 years. He worked as a Correctional Officer at the Centralia Correctional Center where he served as a Union Steward.
He was a member of the Kinmundy United Methodist Church. He loved his children and watching them play in various sports. He had a love for golfing, dancing and singing. He was a great cook. He was known for tormenting his many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Brandon Neil Sauter will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem. Burial will follow at Union Grove (Rabbit Grove) Cemetery in rural Salem. There will be a visitation held on Friday, October 25th at the funeral home from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital, Union Grove (Rabbit Grove) Cemetery, or a local youth sports organization of the donor’s choice and will be received at the funeral home.
