Michael K. Slater, age 67 of Sandoval, passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at Saint Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
Michael was born on May 7, 1957, in Flora, Illinois, the son of Lyle and Rosie (Lewis) Slater.
Survivors include his mother, Rosie Slater of Salem; three grandchildren, Zayden, Kyson, and Braxy Melendez; and siblings, Randy Slater of Salem, Verle Slater of Kinmundy, Sherry Helton and husband Steve of Iuka, and David Slater and wife Ashlie of Central City. He was also survived by several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lyle Slater, his daughter, Chandra Slater, and a sister, Connie Gaston.
Michael has worked various jobs in his life, including training horses, working on the oil pipeline, working for Henne Construction, and most recently, working at Egyptian Concrete. In his spare time, he enjoys fishing, boating, and hunting arrowheads.
Graveside services for Michael K. Slater will be held at Martin Cemetery in Alma at 11:00 am on Monday, October 21, 2024, with Claude Howell officiating. Crouse Funeral Home in Salem is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences and memories can be left at www.CrouseFH.com.
