2024 10/19 Jana Sue (Ahlf) Norman

Jana Sue (Ahlf) Norman, 70 of rural Odin was called home to Heaven on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon. Jana was born on February 11, 1954, in Centralia.  Jana married Troy Norman on August 3, 1974.

Jana is survived by her husband of 50 years, Troy Norman of Odin; brother, Clint Ahlf and wife Julie (Wood) of Centralia; sister-in-law, Ida (Norman) Haney of Eldorado, IL; son, Troy Wayne and wife Kathy Jo (Quick) Norman of Odin; daughter, Cara (Norman) and husband Josh Garner of Odin; grandchildren include Jaycelynn Norman of Odin, Christine (Garner) and husband Dylan James of Carlyle, Jarrett and wife Taylor (Charlton) Norman of Patoka, and Easton Garner of Odin; great-grandchildren include Kinsley James, Amelia Erhardt, and Indie Norman; and several nieces and nephews.

Jana was preceded in death by her parents, Darrell and Mary Ahlf of Centralia; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Leonard and Nellie Norman of Herod, IL.

Jana grew up on her family farm where she made lots of great memories.  Jana graduated from Sandoval High School in 1972. After graduation, Jana left her small town to pursue a degree in Nursing in Danville IL. During a snowstorm in the Winter of 1973, she met the love of her life Troy while they were stranded in a school gymnasium. Jana and Troy were happily married in August 1974. Jana was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church in Shattuc, IL. Jana devoted 22 years of her life to serving many patients and caring for others through nursing, unfortunately, her career ended too soon when she suffered a major medical condition.

Jana spent the next chapter of her life helping to care for her grandkids and introducing them to her love of camping. Jana loved knitting, baking bread, hosting holidays, connecting with old friends, and playing many card games around the kitchen table. Jana loved to play pranks and jokes on others. Jana never met a stranger. Jana was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Jana loved her family deeply and will be missed by all.

A celebration of life service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 19, 2024, at the Day Macz Funeral Home in Sandoval with Joshua Garner officiating. Interment will follow at Sandoval City Cemetery. Friends and relatives are welcome to a visitation on Friday, October 18, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home on Saturday at the funeral home in Sandoval. Memorials may be made in Jana’s honor to Sandoval City Cemetery or Sandoval Fire Station.
