Evelyn K Milner, 88 Years old, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 4:00 pm on October 6, 2024, at her residence. She was born March 17, 1936, in Indiana to the late John and Della Kelley. Evelyn married Duey Eugene Milner on November 24, 1952, in Cisne, Illinois. They were blessed with sixty-one years of marriage before he preceded her in death in 2013.
Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Connie Butler of Mount Vernon, Illinois; grandchildren, Jamie Milner, Adam Duey Milner, and Sarah Milner Lane; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Evelyn was preceded in death by daughter, ReNee Jean Johnston; son, Tony Lee Milner; sister, Nadine Kern; and brothers, Barnlee and Ernie Kelley.
Evelyn worked as a hairdresser for many years. She was an artist varying in watercolors and quilting. Evelyn enjoyed bowling and loved her bird “Smokey” who was an African Grey Parrot. She was active the senior center in Springfield, Illinois, and a member of Summersville Baptist Church in Mount Vernon.
A Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 16, 2024, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Summersville Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 am, and Reverend Don Verhines will officiate. Interment will follow at Bailey Cemetery in Wayne City, Illinois. Memorials may be made in Evelyn’s honor to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Awareness.
