Kenneth Eugene Kapp, 87, of Walnut Hill, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at his home.
He was born November 2, 1936, in Highland, the son of Eugene Joseph Kapp and Henrietta (Mollet) Kapp. On June 2, 1954 in Highland, Kenneth married the love of his life, Sally Ware, and she preceded him in death on July 28, 2022.
Kenneth is survived by his five children: Karen Richardson and husband Donald of Centralia, Debbie Bloemker and husband Steve of Madison, Alabama, LeAnn West and husband Joe of Mattoon, Roger Kapp and wife Tammy of Dix and Eric Kapp and wife Traci of Walnut Hill; daughter-in-law: Tammy Kapp of Belleville; 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law: Kay Jansen of Houston, Texas; sister-in-law: Maureen Kapp of Springfield; several nieces and nephews; and caregivers: Brenda Woodrom and Beth Sanders .
He was preceded in death by his parents: Eugene and Henrietta Kapp, son: Bruce Kapp, two brothers: David Kapp and Wayne Kapp, and a sister-in-law: Gayle Kapp.
Kenneth was a loyal employee for the Centralia Sentinel and he worked for 28 years until his retirement. He enjoyed traveling and camping, he was also a member of the Raccoon Rambler Camping Club. Kenneth and Sally had a passion for square dancing. In his younger years, Kenneth was a devoted member of the Central City Lions Club. He loved spending time with his family and cherished the time he spent making memories. Kenneth proclaimed Jesus as his Lord and Savior.
A Celebration of Life Service for Kenneth Kapp will be held Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at 7:00 pm at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia with Pastor Steve Upchurch officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 25, 2024, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association and will be accepted at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home at 235 North Sycamore Street Centralia, Illinois 62801, (618)532-3523, who is honored to be of service to the Kapp Family.
