Jerry Wayne Burns, 86, of Centralia, passed away at 6:10 a.m., Friday, September 20, 2024, at his home.
He was born January 29, 1938, in Dix, Illinois, the son of Wayne E. and Lucy L. (Tate) Burns. On December 7, 1956, at Woodlawn Christian Church, he married Mary Beadle, and she survives.
Jerry was a heavy equipment operator, for Local 520, and was a graduate of Woodlawn Grade School and High School. He was a member at Woodlawn Christian Church and attended Fouts Christian Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping.
In addition to his wife, Mary Burns of Centralia, he is survived by children, Cathy Lowery and fiancée Ed McPherson of Centralia, Rodney Burns and wife Debbie of Centralia, Brenda Schroeder and husband Tom of Woodlawn, and Ginger Kehrer and significant other Dan Draege of Woodlawn; grandchildren, Michele Stein, Sarah Mellott and husband Michael, John Lowery and wife Blair, Wesley Orrill and wife Amy, Joshua Orrill and wife Becky, Arika Wheeler and husband Corey, Kalin Burns and significant other Jason Cook, Tim Schroeder and wife Vickie, Lori Roach and husband Joe, Amy Rohrer and husband Joe, Jessica Therrien and husband Marc, Jennifer Reuss and husband Drew, Alicia Oller and husband Kevin, and Deidra Bunting and husband Christopher; great-grandchildren, Clayton Ceglinski and wife Ericka, Caitlyn Ceglinski and significant other Levi, Katalina Stein, Jax Stein, Alex Stein, Sadie Mellott,, Tayva Mellottt, Hayden Mellott, Gracie Lowery, Hudson Lowery, Gunner Lowery, Josiah Orrill, Kylie Orrill, Lana Orrill, Mila Orrill, Sawyer Orrill, Hazel Wheeler, Atlas Wheeler, Lilyen Wheeler, Chad Taft and wife Kara, Alexandria Isaac and husband Zach, Kennadi Niles, Everett Roach, Asa Rohrer, Judson Rohrer, Alida Rohrer, Judah Therrien, Ava Therrien, Lydia Therrien, Asher Reuss, Azaria Reuss, Aurora Reuss, Cody Oller, Brooke Oller and significant other Tobias, Tripp Oller, Kaylee Evans and husband Ethan, Rylee Brannon, Mason Bunting, and Tinley Bunting; 10 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Blount and husband LeVelle of Alabama; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Lucy Burns; brother, Bill Burns; sister, Beverly Johnson; son-in-law, Michael Lowery; and nephew, LeVelle Blount, Jr..
Funeral services for Mr. Burns will be held at noon, Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at Fouts Christian Church, with Jerry Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Fouts Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service, Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at the church.
