Garrel E. Eagan, age 77 of Iuka, passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.
Garrel was born on August 7, 1947, in Salem, the son of James O. and Wanda (Shreffler) Eagan. On March 13, 1971, he married Judy Fisher at the Iuka Trinity Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Judy Eagan of Iuka; son Jeffrey Eagan and wife Britt of Dix; sister, Sharon Hindman of Salem; nieces and nephews, Stacie Hall, Brad Hall, Tara Charlton, James Eagan, Heath Hindman, Lisa Ritter, Richard Hindman, and several other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents James O. and Wanda Eagan; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Hershel and Carol Fisher; sister, Janet Hall; brother, James L. Eagan; and brother-in-law, Ricky Fisher.
Garrel was a member of Iuka Trinity Lutheran Church. He retired after many years as an electrician with Texico Salem Unit and Citation Oil and Gas. He enjoyed showing horses and being involved with 4-H and supporting the local youth and was a member of the Boy Scouts of America. He found pleasure in restoring 8N tractors and antique trucks.
A graveside service for Garrel E. Eagan will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at the Iuka Trinity Lutheran Cemetery with Pastor Paul Pater officiating. To honor Garrel’s service to the United States Navy, Military Rites will be accorded at the grave by the Salem American Legion.
